About
Peypoch Chat, Incorporated (operating commercially as Chat Peypoch Portraits or Chat Peypoch Studio) is a historic, elite portrait photography institution in the Philippines. Founded by the legendary Monserrat "Chat" Peypoch (1915–2022)—a pioneering female Filipina photographer who trained at the prestigious Brooks Institute of Photography in California—the studio redefined high-society portraiture in Manila during the mid-to-late 20th century. For generations, getting a "Chat Peypoch" photo was considered a premier cultural rite of passage, particularly for graduation portraits across elite schools (such as Assumption, St. Scholastica, Maryknoll/Miriam, Poveda, and La Salle) and high-society debutante coming-out events. The studio is highly regarded for its timeless, signature minimalist lighting style, prioritizing classic monochrome or sepia-toned elegance and natural, un-posed human expressions. Still managed by family descendants, the corporation continues to specialize in premium fine-art portraiture, milestone legacy photos, and high-end wedding photography.
